Europ Assistance Australia Now Underwrites Its Own Travel Insurance Policies

Europ Assistance Australia Now Underwrites Its Own Travel Insurance Policies

Europ Assistance Australia (EAA) has achieved a significant milestone by obtaining a general insurance licence from the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA).
This development allows EAA to underwrite its own travel insurance products, marking a new chapter in its commitment to Australian travellers.

Since entering the Australian and New Zealand markets in 2022 through the acquisition of InsureandGo and Tick, EAA has rapidly expanded its presence. The company has established offices in Sydney, Brisbane, and Auckland, and has partnered with major entities like Flight Centre Travel Group to distribute travel insurance and assistance services.

In 2025 alone, EAA supported over 1.3 million travellers from Australia and New Zealand through its comprehensive global travel assistance network. With a local team exceeding 200 members, the company has solidified its position as a leading provider of leisure travel insurance in the region.

Justin Sebire, CEO of Europ Assistance in Australia and New Zealand, emphasised the company's mission: "Our goal has always been to assist travellers from distress to relief, anytime. Securing our own licence in Australia enhances our ability to fulfil that promise with greater speed, care, and accountability."

Independent Chair of EAA, Francois de Meneval, highlighted the evolving needs of Australian travellers: "Australians are among the world's most active and passionate travellers, with needs that continue to evolve rapidly in a world where international travel has become increasingly complex."

By underwriting its own travel insurance products, EAA aims to offer more tailored and responsive services to meet the unique requirements of Australian travellers. This strategic move underscores the company's long-term commitment to the Australian market and its dedication to providing comprehensive and reliable travel insurance solutions.

For Australian travellers, this development means enhanced confidence in their travel insurance coverage, knowing that EAA is directly responsible for the products it offers. As the travel landscape continues to evolve, having a trusted and responsive insurance provider is more important than ever.
